Monte Feliz – powered by Playitas took part for the first time in one of the most demanding and unique cycling events on Gran Canaria’s calendar: Desafío La Titánica. Beyond the sporting aspect, this edition once again highlighted the importance of organisation, coordination and teamwork in successfully delivering an event of this scale.
The race took place over two stages. The first stage, held in Agüimes, started at the Auditorium and led participants through a technical and selective route, passing through the Barranco de Guayadeque and climbing Alto de Las Tierras, where the first differences between riders began to emerge. Although short in distance, it was an intense stage in terms of effort, ideal for opening a competition that demanded concentration and great endurance from the very beginning.
The second stage raised the level of difficulty even further. Starting again from the Agüimes Auditorium, the peloton headed towards Ingenio and crossed areas such as La Atalaya, Alto de la Bodeguilla and La Asomada, with gradients exceeding 20%. Adverse weather conditions, including wind and rain for much of the day, forced the organisation to cancel the final timed section for safety reasons and direct participants straight to the finish line in Vega de San Mateo.

At Monte Feliz, we would especially like to highlight the effort of our entire team and hotel staff, who were fully committed to every detail to ensure that the experience for participants, organisers and collaborators was the best possible. In a race marked by the toughness of the route and particularly challenging conditions, responsiveness, commitment and professionalism were key to making everything run smoothly.
Collaboration with DG Eventos was essential throughout the event. Their experience, planning and adaptability ensured that the competition could take place with the highest guarantees, once again demonstrating the value of working alongside teams that share the same vision of excellence and commitment.
We would also like to thank the public institutions that made this edition possible, especially the municipalities of Agüimes and San Mateo, which actively participated as host towns, as well as the support of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria through its Tourism and Sports departments and Turismo de Gran Canaria. Their involvement was essential to the successful development of the event and to further strengthening Gran Canaria’s image as a leading sports destination.
For Monte Feliz, supporting Desafío La Titánica means much more than sponsoring a sporting event. It means reaffirming our commitment to cycling, active tourism and initiatives that promote the values of effort, perseverance and teamwork. It also means recognising the work of all the people who, both inside and outside the hotel, contribute to making everything function as it should.
Thank you to DG Eventos, the collaborating institutions and everyone who made this edition possible. We will continue to support sport as a driving force for experiences, connection and development for our destination.
