My name is Anders Grandien and I am a professional Swedish adventurer. In December 2025, I completed my biggest adventure to date: cycling 17,285 km from the north of Sweden to Mount Fuji in Japan, also climbing the Razdelnaya peak in Kyrgyzstan (6,148 m) along the way. Currently, I am training for my next big challenge, which will be more extreme than anything I have done before and will set a world record (for now, the adventure is a secret). I recently spent two weeks at Playitas Monte Feliz to train and rest, and I had a great time!

1. What motivated you to choose Monte Feliz – powered by Playitas for your stay and training in Gran Canaria?

Shortly after returning to Sweden from Japan, Daniel Giray (sports director of Apollo Sports) contacted me to ask if I was interested in coming to Monte Feliz to train for my next big adventure. Of course, I said yes, not only to have the opportunity to kick off my training, but also to escape the Swedish winter for a while.

2. How would you describe your training experience at the hotel and the use of its sports facilities?

The training experience has been fantastic. I combined road cycling with full-body workouts in their excellent gym, as well as practicing other sports. I usually started the day with morning yoga to activate the body; then, I would go out for a bike ride and, after refueling with the fantastic lunch buffet and resting a bit, I would go to the gym. In the afternoon, I sometimes played paddle tennis or regular tennis, or went swimming in the sea or pool.

3. What advantages would you highlight of Monte Feliz as a training base for cyclists and athletes looking to balance rest and performance?

It is truly the perfect place for an athlete or cyclist to combine hard training with rest. In this place, you can really focus on your training, nutrition, and recovery; they take care of everything else. In terms of cycling, it’s great because the hotel is surrounded by good roads, there is a bike shop in the hotel, the rooms have bike racks, and there were many other cyclists there, so I could share experiences with like-minded people. For relaxation, it’s great: you can, for example, do yoga, relax by the pool, go down to the ocean, or get a massage at the wellness center.

4. Was there any detail, service, or moment during your stay that surprised you or that you think makes a difference for athletes?

I connected very personally and friendly immediately with the reception and restaurant staff. I felt that they really made an effort to get to know me, understand why I was there, and make me feel at home. On a couple of occasions, I needed tools for my bike and I was able to borrow exactly what I needed at the bike shop. I also found the food to be extremely good. There was always a wide selection of high-quality proteins, something that is essential for athletes.

5. If you had to recommend Monte Feliz – powered by Playitas to other athletes or sports content creators, what would you tell them?

I would simply tell them that this is the perfect place for a training camp. Everything you could wish for is here: a fantastic gym, sports, relaxation, first-class food, and incredible surroundings and landscapes for cycling and creating quality content. In addition, it is very close to the airport, which for me is a big plus.
